Case Study

Warehouse Installation for Electrical Parts Supplier

Challenge

An existing customer approached Stein for project management and warehouse installation of a new warehouse. Some of the products the customer needed required us to order materials from several third-party companies. This client worked with us in Raleigh, NC on a previous project and felt that we had the experience to complete the project successfully and at a competitive price.

To meet the needs of the client’s new warehouse, they needed us to create a custom storage solution for their electrical products using a variety of different materials. Many of the materials they requested were not familiar to Stein, so in order for our team to determine the best design for the client’s warehouse, we researched several different manufacturers and found several that we were able to meet their facility’s specifications.

Solution

The customer needed display shelving in a variety of different sizes. Store fixture companies typically carry this type of shelving, as this industry is different from Stein. We spoke to managers from several different display manufacturers to determine the design that would work best for storing the customer’s products. For spools of wire and conduit, reel rack would be required to complete part of the shelving. We talked to a reputable reel bracket supplier and combined our pallet rack to create a customized storage solution using this material.

Next, we contacted a divider manufacturer so we could design some vertical storage for long items to simplify selectivity. We sourced a transportation cart from another manufacturer for the long material and conduit.

As with a lot of projects, there can be delays in shipping, especially when we order materials from third-party manufacturers, which was the case here. There is also a steel shortage currently in our industry. Stein did not want the customer to delay the opening of their facility, so we worked with them to perform as much of the installation as possible as materials arrived, which ended up working out well in the end.

After the remainder of the materials was delivered, we were able to complete the rest of the installation relatively quickly. Our client was impressed and very happy with the work that was done, and they are now able to display and store electrical products of varying styles and sizes.
