Warehouse Solution for Global Mineral Company
A new customer approached Stein Service & Supply looking for expertise with warehouse design of maintenance items and parts storage. The initial introduction meeting was set and a preliminary warehouse design was discussed.
The customer needed:
- 5900 sq. ft. mezzanine
- Vertical lift for a parts elevator
- Two different sizes of wide span shelving
- A row of 16’ x 48“ standard pallet racking
- A row of heavy capacity racking (each level 10,000 lbs. cap.)
- Relocate a modular office
Warehouse Design
When drawing up the initial warehouse design, we had concerns about the vertical lift working correctly with the mezzanine and a back stairwell that connects with an existing landing and stairway. Another challenge was the location of building columns in conjunction with mezzanine design. We met these challenges with an updated design that worked with the existing infrastructure and it was presented to the customer for approval. The customer approved the project, issued the purchase order and production began. Stein then worked with the local government officials to obtain the required project permit.
Safety Training
For safety reasons, Stein provided complete installation and construction of the project. Due to the nature of customers’ business, all installers completed 24 hours of site-specific safety training. On-site safety briefings were also required and completed.

Warehouse Installation
During installation, the Covid-19 pandemic emerged in the U.S. At this point, the customer had to shut down the site due to safety concerns from the pandemic. There was over a month delay, but we made sure that site was safe and secure during the delay. Remarkably, all of our suppliers met the quoted lead time.
Once construction resumed and there were very few delays. The vertical lift proved to be challenging to construct, but our warehouse installation crew rose above the challenge. It performed perfectly during all tests and inspections.
The county inspector completed the final inspection and it passed with no issues. At this point, the pallet racking was installed in front of the mezzanine. The wide span shelving was installed on top and underneath the mezzanine. Lastly, our installers de-constructed a modular office and reconstructed it in a different location.
During the course of the project, the lead consultant from Stein worked with each of the team members for their expertise to ensure a smooth delivery. The customer was very satisfied with his choice to partner with Stein Service & Supply and continues to provide new projects to us.
