Warehouse Storage for Pool Equipment Supplier

When a North Carolina Pool Equipment Supplier decided to open a distribution center in Phoenix, they trusted Stein Service & Supply to provide all the material and services for the project.

Our Warehouse Solutions Specialist worked with the customer for several months to determine the desired warehouse design. During this time, she was able to determine the pain points they suffered in their operations and designed a warehouse layout that helped ease those areas. She continued to collaborate with the customer, and revise the layout to ensure that all of their needs were met.

Stein supplied 6,006 square feet of wide span shelving and 34,853 square feet of selective high pile rack. In addition, we painted 17,850 linear feet of lines for the designation of floor storage and truck lanes.

Since the project was new construction, the start of installation was delayed a month. The rack shipments could not be held, so we carefully unloaded and stacked the material in the parking lot until the building was available. Once the building was ready for the rack to be installed, the customer was not on-site, so all installation coordination required direct contact with the General Contractor’s Superintendent. We worked with them to determine a schedule and timeline that fit with them and their contractors.

Having never performed work in Phoenix, the permit process proved to be a challenge. The requirements from the city went beyond what we were accustomed to in other cities. Regardless, we are always prepared for the unexpected and refocused as needed to get to the project completed. During the permit process, the city placed additional requirements outside our scope of work before they would sign off on the inspections. This included providing fire door signs, hiring an engineer to determine the sprinkler capacities based on the customer’s commodities, and providing a new riser placard for the sprinkler. While these are not typically in the scope of work for us, we pulled our resources together, located the proper professionals to provide these materials and meet the city requirements in a timely manner.
