Augusta is an easy run for us down I-20. We buy and sell used pallet racking across the country and install it. Tell Kyle what the project needs and he will work out the rack and the trucking together.
Buy Used Pallet Rack in Augusta, GA
Augusta's warehouse demand runs on institutions and manufacturing rather than e-commerce. The Savannah River Site, the Army's cyber mission at Fort Gordon, the downtown medical district and a heavy industrial base all pull inventory into the area.
Used rack runs a third to half off new, depending on condition. We install it too, and mix in new rack when the yard cannot cover a whole job.

Permitting
Permits in Augusta-Richmond County
Augusta runs a consolidated city-county government, so there is no separate county building department to sort out. The Augusta Planning and Development Department handles building permits for both the city and the unincorporated county.
Fire review comes from the Augusta-Richmond County Fire Department's Office of Community Risk Reduction. It reviews construction, fire alarm, sprinkler and suppression plans, issues the permit once review clears, and issues the certificate of occupancy after inspections pass.
Because one government covers the whole county, Augusta avoids the city-versus-county confusion that comes up in most of the markets we work in.
Under the International Fire Code you need a permit once a building holds more than 500 square feet of high-piled combustible storage, and high-piled means the top of the load sits above 12 feet. That covers most pallet rack projects. The code itself is the same in every jurisdiction, but the forms you file and the reviewer who reads them change from one county to the next.
- Storage with the top of the load above 12 feet, whether rack, shelving or floor-stacked piles
- More than 500 square feet of high-piled storage area
- Combustible commodities, counting the carton and the wood pallet, not just the product
- A new tenant or a change of use in an existing building
Submittal requirements do change, so we confirm the current package with both offices before drawings are made. Get the walkthrough before the anchors go in, while changes are still cheap. How our permitting process works
Common Questions
Do I deal with the city or the county in Augusta?
One government covers both. Augusta and Richmond County are consolidated, so the Augusta Planning and Development Department handles building permits for the city and the unincorporated county alike.
How much can I save buying used pallet rack?
Used rack typically runs a third to half off new, depending on condition and what is available when you order. The exact number moves with what we have pulled out of warehouses recently.
Can I mix used and new rack in the same system?
Yes, as long as the sizes, load capacities and connection style are compatible. It is common on larger jobs, since the yard rarely holds every size in the quantity a full warehouse needs.
Do you install, or just deliver?
We do both. Stein is a licensed general contractor and our own crews handle installation, so the same company that sells you the rack sets it in your building.
Is used pallet rack safe?
We inspect what comes into the yard and give a condition rating on what we sell. Rack that is bent, cracked at the welds, or missing its capacity data does not go back out.
