Used Pallet Racking
Used Pallet Rack Wilmington, NC
Used beams, uprights and wire decking for Wilmington warehouses, at a fraction of the cost of new. We deliver and install.
Getting Rack to Wilmington
Wilmington is where I-40 ends, at the port. We buy and sell used pallet racking across the country and install it, so distance is not the issue. Tell Kyle what you need and he will quote the rack and the freight together.

Used rack runs a third to half off new, depending on condition. We pull it out of warehouses that are closing or moving, bring it back to our lot in Charlotte, and check it before it ships back out.
Port work tends to run on short notice and odd sizes. If you need something specific in a hurry, the yard is usually the faster answer than a factory lead time.

Where We Work
Where the Warehouses Are in Wilmington, NC
Almost all of Wilmington's warehouse growth has concentrated along one road.
The US 421 North corridor
The region's industrial spine, running from town north toward the Pender County line. Flat sandy ground, utilities already run, and a straight shot to I-140 and the port.
The Port of Wilmington
The state port has roughly a million square feet of covered storage on the dock, with rail running to the berths.
Pender Commerce Park
North of the county line in Pender County. Amazon has a robotics fulfillment center here running more than three million square feet, and Maersk operates cold storage on the same park.
Permitting
Permits around Wilmington
Fire review depends on which side of the city line your building sits on. Inside Wilmington it is the City of Wilmington Fire Department's Office of the Fire Marshal. Outside it, New Hanover County Fire Rescue's Office of the Fire Marshal handles it.
That distinction matters more here than in most markets. The newer big-box space, including the US 421 corridor and Pender Commerce Park, is north of town and outside the city line. Pender Commerce Park is in a different county altogether.
New Hanover County Building Safety handles building permitting for the county, and the City of Wilmington handles zoning approval.
Under the International Fire Code you need a permit once a building holds more than 500 square feet of high-piled combustible storage, and high-piled means the top of the load sits above 12 feet. That covers most pallet rack projects. The code itself is the same in every jurisdiction, but the forms you file and the reviewer who reads them change from one county to the next.
- Storage with the top of the load above 12 feet, whether rack, shelving or floor-stacked piles
- More than 500 square feet of high-piled storage area
- Combustible commodities, counting the carton and the wood pallet, not just the product
- A new tenant or a change of use in an existing building
We confirm which offices apply to your address before anything gets drawn. Get the walkthrough before the anchors go in, while changes are still cheap. How our permitting process works
Common Questions
Does the city or the county review my warehouse in Wilmington?
It depends on the address. Fire review inside city limits goes to the City of Wilmington Fire Department's Office of the Fire Marshal; outside, it goes to New Hanover County Fire Rescue. Most of the newer warehouse space along US 421 is outside the city line.
How much can I save buying used pallet rack?
Used rack typically runs a third to half off new, depending on condition and what is available when you order. The exact number moves with what we have pulled out of warehouses recently.
Can I mix used and new rack in the same system?
Yes, as long as the sizes, load capacities and connection style are compatible. It is common on larger jobs, since the yard rarely holds every size in the quantity a full warehouse needs.
Do you install, or just deliver?
We do both. Stein is a licensed general contractor and our own crews handle installation, so the same company that sells you the rack sets it in your building.
Is used pallet rack safe?
We inspect what comes into the yard and give a condition rating on what we sell. Rack that is bent, cracked at the welds, or missing its capacity data does not go back out.
